The Tractor Pull Comes to Town

The Schaefferstown, PA Annual Tractor Pull Show - where hundreds come to watch the competitions and gawk at dozens of powerful tractors - happens right in our backyard.

The Annual Tractor Pull

Well there is always excitement when the circus comes to town. Except, here in Schaefferstown, instead of hearing that familiar circus tune you’ll hear chugging. Instead of jugglers and trapeze artists, you’ll see smoke billowing, dust being kicked up and splashes of green and red throughout.

The “Annual Tractor Pull and Show” at the Schaefferstown fire company, just a stone’s throw from our back door, draws lots of attention from Schaefferstown residents and those from the surrounding areas. Excitement builds as men, young and old, bring their favorite toys both for show and for a chance to prove their power in the sled pulling competition.

Our farm-rich heritage has given us a deep love not only for the look of these tractors but, also for the functional power they possess. The sheet metal they were built from was minimal, and typically structural, but American ingenuity formed it into a very recognizable style, with details and colors that strongly represent their brand today.

More than Just For Show

It may or may not be a surprise to you, but these big green and red machines are much more than just toys, they are also big business. Most of these tractors have lived through hours of field work and have been fully restored to their former glory. A few of them are still on the farm team, and may be back in the fields on Monday. Of course, it's not uncommon for farmers to have a few in their collection. When it comes to horses, you typically need more than one, so the same logic is applied to tractors as well.

There are tractors of many different shapes, sizes and ages at the Tractor Pull.

Bragging rights are up for grabs, and they last a whole year, maybe more. It's all good for the community and the fire company hosts the benefit. The boys get a day off to play, and fun and fellowship are enjoyed by all.
